Arabic keys and phonetic typing work in your browser. Smart word suggestions need an internet connection.

Learn the keyboard

Type Arabic with an on-screen Arabic layout

Simple keyboard inserts the Arabic characters shown on its keys. Click the layout or use matching physical key positions, without phonetic conversion or whole-word suggestions.

Build Arabic words with visible keys

Click the Arabic letter you can see

Each Arabic key inserts its character at the caret. Use the layout with a mouse or touch.

Start without Arabic hardware

Choose Simple, turn on Shift, and click alif with hamza above at the H position. Turn Shift off, then click ha, mim, and dal. A key inserts at the caret or replaces a selected range.

Simple does not infer sounds from English spelling. Use it when you recognize the letter and want direct control over each character.

Use matching physical positions

Hardware keys follow the displayed Arabic layout. Their English labels are not sound shortcuts in this mode.

Learn a few useful positions

Hold Shift and press the physical H position for alif with hamza above. Release Shift, then press P for ha, L for mim, and the right bracket position for dal. Those positions produce the same Ahmed example as the Arabic key clicks.

Shift accesses the shifted characters shown by the layout. Review the keycaps when a modifier is active. Choose Fast if you prefer English sound shortcuts.

Add vowel marks after a letter

The final row provides Fatha, Fathatan, Damma, Dammatan, Shadda, Sukun, Kasra, and Kasratan.

Place harakat without inserting a dotted circle

Place the caret after the base letter, then click its mark. The dotted circle on a key helps show the mark; it is not inserted into your text. Marks are available in all three typing methods.

Marks are separate characters. Review their placement and use Undo if you add the wrong one. Existing marks stay in the text when a Fast letter alternative replaces the base letter.

Make Arabic text easy to read

Change the appearance of the complete draft from Text style. Start with Noto Kufi Arabic at 22 px, then adjust it for your task.

What the style controls change

Open Text style to choose a font, set a size from 12 to 120 px, change the text color, or apply bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough. These settings apply to the whole draft rather than a selected phrase.

Text direction is independent of the interface language. Keep right-to-left for an Arabic paragraph. Reset style restores the starting appearance without clearing the words.

Copy, download, or look up your text

Copy the draft, download an editable Word document, or save a PNG image. Use Search your text for a web search or share action.

Choose the output for your next step

Copy copies the complete draft as text. Save Word (.docx) keeps editable text and the selected overall style. Save image (.png) produces a white-background image; its words are no longer editable as text in that image.

Word and image files are created in your browser. An oversized image can reach a limit; shorten the draft or use Word if the image cannot be created.

Search your text uses a selected passage when one is selected, otherwise the complete draft. Choose a destination and press Open to send that text to the external service.

Try it in three steps

  1. Choose Simple keyboard

Select Simple. The virtual keys display Arabic letters rather than English sound labels.

  2. Click letters or use their positions

Click Shift and alif with hamza above, turn Shift off, then click ha, mim, and dal. On a physical keyboard, hold Shift for H, release it, then press P, L, and right bracket.

  3. Add marks and save

Add any needed harakat from the final row, review the draft, then copy or save Word or PNG.

Your text and the suggestion service

Simple entry, harakat, editing, and Word or PNG generation run in your browser without the Smart service. Browser drafts belong to this browser. Search and sharing send the chosen text to an external destination.
