How to use an online Arabic keyboard

Choose Simple keyboard to type the Arabic characters shown on screen. Click a letter or use its physical position; no phonetic spelling or word lookup is required.

Use this direct layout when you recognize Arabic letters, are learning their positions, or need a short passage without changing your operating system keyboard.

Build Arabic words with visible keys

Open Simple keyboard

Open Simple Arabic keyboard and select the Simple keyboard tab. The displayed Arabic layout is the reference for virtual clicks and physical input.

Place the caret where the next letter should go. A key inserts there or replaces a selected passage. You can edit an existing Arabic draft rather than starting over.

Enter a short Arabic example

For Ahmed, turn on the virtual Shift key and click alif with hamza above at the H position. Turn Shift off, then click ha, mim, and dal. Review the connected name in the editor. These are direct insertions, without a whole-word request.

On a physical keyboard, hold Shift while pressing H for alif with hamza above. Release Shift, then press P, L, and the right bracket position for the remaining letters. These are key positions, not English sound shortcuts.

Shift changes the displayed layer. Look at the keycaps before choosing a character, and return to the base layer for the next letters. Select Fast if you prefer English sound shortcuts.

Add the vowel marks you need

Place the caret immediately after a letter, then click Fatha, Fathatan, Damma, Dammatan, Shadda, Sukun, Kasra, or Kasratan. The same row is available in Fast and Smart.

For a small check, click ba, then Fatha. The result is ba with a fatha above it. The dotted circle on the key only makes a combining mark visible; it is not inserted into the text.

Marks remain separate characters in editable text. Undo removes an unwanted insertion. Check their placement before exporting.

Adjust the whole draft

Open Text style from the toolbar. The starting font is Noto Kufi Arabic at 22 px. Choose another available family or a size from 12 to 120 px to change the whole draft.

Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, and color also apply to all the text, not only a selected phrase. Keep right-to-left direction for a typical Arabic paragraph.

Reset style restores the starting appearance without clearing the text. This browser can remember explicit style choices. Changing methods also preserves the draft.

Copy, download, or search

Copy copies the complete draft as text. Save Word (.docx) creates an editable document with the chosen overall style. Save image (.png) creates a white-background image that keeps the rendered appearance rather than editable words.

Word and PNG are generated in the browser. Image limits can prevent an oversized result; use a shorter passage or Word for a long draft.

Search your text offers search and sharing destinations. Select a passage to use that part, otherwise Open uses the whole draft. This sends text to the external destination you choose. Copy or download a backup before leaving a device or clearing browser storage.

Useful choices

Click to find a letter

Visible Arabic keycaps help when you know the shape but have not learned its physical position.

Use positions for repeated typing

Once the layout is familiar, use physical positions and keep the virtual keys as a reference.

Try it yourself

Add your first vowel mark

In Simple, click ba and then Fatha from the final row. Compare the result, then undo the last insertion.

Compare with the exampleبَ

Only the base letter and combining fatha are inserted. There is no dotted circle in the result.

Questions about this method

Do I need to install an Arabic keyboard?

No. The on-screen layout works in the browser. Simple also maps physical positions while the editor is focused.

Does Simple predict or translate words?

No. It inserts displayed characters directly. Use Smart for whole-word candidates or Fast for English-to-Arabic letter shortcuts.

Can I edit the text after downloading?

The browser draft remains in the editor. A Word file contains editable text; PNG contains a rendered image whose words are not editable as text in that image.

Put it into practice

Open the keyboard and try the example with your own text.
